TAF 2022
TAF will celebrate its 3rd edition with galleries, artists, professionals and guests from over 20 countries (Hungary, Ukraine, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Iran, Armenia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Poland, USA, Japan, Spain, India, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, UK, Italy, Albania…).
Our gallery’s installation specially conceived for TAF – Tbilisi art fair 2022, reveals the multifaceted but yet distinctive character of the young Lithuanian art scene, and brings their voice into the current contemporary art and contemporary culture discussions. The Rooster Gallery will introduce the newest artworks by prominent contemporary Lithuanian artists – Vytautas Kumza, Kazimieras Brazdziunas, Tomas Daukša, Vita Opolskytė – Brazdziuniene, and Andrius Zakarauskas. Using different media – from traditional oil painting and drawing to digital print and sculpture – artists explore the field of culture. Some of them focus on visual culture studies and analyze the phenomenon of an image, its ephemeral nature, ability to provoke emotional response. Another topical aspect of the exhibition is a discussion with the history of art, and particularly painting. In their works, artists polemicize with the authorities of the field, conceptualize the evolution of painting media and contemporize its traditions. For others, art making becomes a tool for anthropological and social studies, for documenting and examining everyday rituals of real and fictional communities. Despite different directions of artistic research, insights on cultural production, reproduction and over production unite all artworks. The exhibition not only offers a concentrated display of relevant contemporary art tendencies and reveals a multifaceted yet distinctive character of young art scene in Lithuania, but also comments on broader issues of contemporary culture.
