Greetings from inside
Greetings from inside. Virtual solo show by Egle Norkute
The Rooster Gallery kindly invites you to visit the first virtual solo show of digital artworks “Greetings from inside” by painter Egle Norkute at IRGI GALERIJA.
The exhibition will be available online from 3rd till 27th of November and it is recommended to access it via computer instead of mobile device.
Artisanally rendered images become a kind of anti-ready-made objects. When creating
these moulages embodied in materials that belong to the painting medium, artist considers
issues of authorship, originality and status of an artwork. “My paintings are savored in mimicry disputing the classical aesthetic of art as imitation. I use visual tricks, infantile imitations of reality and illogical visual junctions, by which I aim to comment on the questionable significance of representation painting has in the present day”.
Eglė Norkutė (b. 1993) is a painter of the younger generation. In 2019 she graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Master’s degree in painting. Since 2019 she is a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. Since 2017 she has organized solo shows, participated in local and international exhibitions and art residencies. The painter has won awards and prizes in art competitions; she is a finalist of the Young Painter’s Prize (2018, 2019) and winner of the Rooster Gallery Special Prize (2019).
Project was organized by “Irgi galerija” in partnership with The Rooster Gallery and kindly supported by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
