NOSTALGIA ISLAND
Imantas Selenis’ Nostalgia Island is a return to the residential districts of Vilnius that shaped the 1990s generation.
Selenis’ photographs, accompanied by text by director Karolis Kaupinis, explore how nostalgia can become not only a form of memory, but also a way of accepting a complex and not always beautiful reality.
Traveling through the spaces of today’s residential areas, the photographer’s gaze paints them with emotions – color here becomes a reflection of the mood in Kaupinis’ essay. Together, they reflect on the ambivalent relationship with their native place, the desire to escape, and the path to reconciliation with one’s own identity.
Nostalgia Island offers a different view of the city’s microdistricts – not as a place to escape or forget, but as a space with a multilayered history that has shaped and continues to shape our identity.
The exhibition accompanies the photo album Nostalgia Island by Imantas Selenis.
The exhibition will be open until December 7th, 2025.
Opening times: IV-V 16:00–19:00, VI-VII 14:00–17:00.
