The Rooster Gallery warmly invites you to the opening of Myths of Everyday Life, a solo exhibition by painter Raminta Blaževičiūtė-Mozūraitienė. The opening will take place on 20 August at 6:00 pm at the gallery, Šv. Brunono Bonifaco St. 12.

Myths of Everyday Life brings together two cycles of paintings created across distinct geographical, cultural, and emotional landscapes. Some works were painted in India, others in Finland, yet within the exhibition they come together not as reflections of specific places or records of travel, but as layers of experiences and states of being that form maps of the artist’s inner world.

The earlier works, created in India, highlight an encounter with the external world, conveying an intense, vibrant reality where natural motifs, cultural symbols, and an abundance of imagery intertwine. In the later paintings, created in Finland, everyday life narrows to the intimate space of the home, turning inward toward personal experience and the conscious creation of a place of safety – a process akin to building a warm and protective nest. The defining condition of this exhibition, born out of movement and change, is that of in-between: between there and here, then and now, between places, life stages, and social roles. Yet this is not merely a transitional state to be overcome. For the artist, the in-between is a way of inhabiting the world – a condition in which she lives and from which her work emerges.

The paintings construct a distinctive mythology of the home, populated by domestic creatures and animated everyday objects. Characters that occasionally enter Blaževičiūtė-Mozūraitienė’s works as references to art, cinema, and other cultural sources gradually shed their original contexts and begin to exist according to the laws of the artist’s own mythology. These myths are not born of heroic deeds, nor do they unfold in distant places or mythical times. Instead, the vast world contracts and settles into small lives – in the paradoxes of ordinary moments, everyday rituals and ceremonies. The figures in the paintings adorn themselves, apply false eyelashes, try on high heels, carry handbags, and sometimes behave as though everyday life were an endless preparation for a party.

Within the universe of Blaževičiūtė-Mozūraitienė’s paintings, childhood is preserved and cherished. The world is seen through the eyes of a child, drawing on the spontaneity and freedom of children’s creativity while embracing the illogicality of imagination and the elements of play and fairy tales. By creatively testing the boundaries between reality and its fantastical reflections, the artist not only composes a chronicle of her own experiences but also suggests new ways of seeing the everyday.

Raminta Blaževičiūtė-Mozūraitienė (b. 1993) is a painter of the younger generation. She received her MA in Painting from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2018. Since 2014, she has actively participated in group exhibitions, plein-air workshops, and art competitions, and has held several solo exhibitions. In 2017, she was a finalist in the 6th International Algimantas Švėgžda Drawing Competition, and in 2019 she was selected as a finalist for the Young Painter Prize.
